SOD-CUTTING CEREMONY FOR UDG-4&5 SUB-PROJECTS UNDER THE GHANA SECONDARY CITIES SUPPORT PROGRAMME (G.S.C.S.P.) AT RAILWAY TAXI RANK, ASSIN FOSO

The Assin Foso Municipal Assembly on Tuesday, 23rd April, 2024 had a Sod-Cutting Ceremony for the Urban Development Grant 4&5 (UDG-4&5) projects under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme. That which is designed to improve the delivery of Urban Development Management and Services in the participating Municipal Assemblies on the Ghana Government/World Bank’s programme for results.  The programme was Co-Chaired by the Nananom from Affutuakwa and Aboaboman Traditional Council.

The occasion brought together the Heads of all Security agencies in the municipality, Nananom, Assembly Members, Political Parties’ Reps., the Consultants, the Contractors and staff, as well as the general public, including the media houses.

The MCE, Hon. Nicholas K. Baako, in his speech acknowledged those present and those who worked tirelessly behind the scene to make it possible. He said, the Redevelopment of the Adiembra and Railways Taxi Stations embody the collective commitment to progress and prosperity for all who call on Assin Foso.

Furthermore, he said, the UDG-4 projects especially signify an enhanced connectivity, improved transportation, and economic opportunities for the people of Assin Foso. According to him, the sod-cutting symbolizes the beginning of a journey towards a more efficient and sustainable transportation network.

The MCE, in his address, urged pedestrians and those doing business around the projects sites to desist from encroaching, in other to mitigate undue harm to people, since the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme takes keen interest in Social and Environmental Safeguards Issues.

The projects boards were unveiled by the MCE and Nananom. The Consultants took the opportunity to explain all the projects to be implemented under the UDG-4&5 to the general public. Nana Appotei IV, Aboabohene, appreciated the MCE and his Assembly staff. He also pledged the full support of Nananom to the Municipal Assembly in carrying out its mandate.

The cutting of the sod was done by the MCE, supported by Traditional Authorities, Hon. Assembly Members, Consultants and Management of the Assin Foso Municipal Assembly.
