Event Description
The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) presented computers and accessories to students of Assin Foso Roman Catholic ‘C’ School. The donation took place on Wednesday, 6th September, 2023 at the school’s premises. In attendance from the Assin Fosu Municipal Assembly were Hon. Nicholas Kofi Baako (Municipal Chief Executive), Mr. Saaka Ibrahim (Municipal Coordinating Director), Mr. Abdul Aziz Awal (Municipal Internal Auditor), Mr. Gideon Baidoo (Municipal Development Planning Officer), Mr. Prince Kumi Boateng, (Assistant Director), Mr. Samuel Awotwe, (Assistant Development Planning Officer), Hon. Eric Mensah (Assembly Man of the Area) and Hon. Bismark Obeng Donkor. Receiving the items on behalf of the Assin Fosu Roman Catholic “C” school was Rev. Father Joseph Akonor, Assin Foso Roman Catholic Local Manager and Mr. Mark Tsebewu, Head Master of the school. The items received were ten (10) desktops computers, ten (10) uninterruptible power supply (UPS), one (1) projector, one (1) printer and two (2) ceiling fans. Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Nicholas Kofi Baako, the Municipal Chief Executive, said the donation was to contribute towards equipping students with ICT capacity building and skills development. He continued by saying that the objective of GIFEC was to bridge the digital divide and provide resource for capacity building in ICT for underserved and unserved populations, including primary and junior secondary school. He added that, ICT has become a critical component of the world economy, hence a number of initiatives have been taken by Government in that regard as a priority in major sectors of the economy including education. In his address, the overseer of the school Rev. Father Joseph Akonor thanked GIFEC and Assin Foso Municipal Assembly for such a modest donation and was quick to add that, the Management of the school is able and ready to build the capacity of students in ICT to prepare them for the future. He further stated that, his dream to digitize the school has come to realization and that he is very grateful and appreciative for the kind donation. He said that, the donation will further strengthen their relationship and believes the school will receive more of such donations in the future.
